The Biscuit Factory

Hi, I’m Mig — founder of The Biscuit Factory and proud human to Toup, the one-eared, half-tailed king of the misfits.

I’ve always loved animals. As a kid, I was constantly begging my parents to let me help any creature in need, and by the time I moved out, I already had four cats and a dog. Once I had a place of my own, I turned it into a feline dream—cat shelves, a giant catio, and lots of space for rescued kitties to thrive.

That home is where I met Toup. He was a rough-around-the-edges outdoor cat, and it took a lot of patience (and a lot of food) to earn his trust. But eventually, he came inside—and never left. With half an ear, half a tail, and a snaggletooth grin, Toup became the heart of my home and, soon after, the face of our rescue efforts.

At one point, I had rescued 19 cats on my own—and decided to make a TikTok about it. That video went viral, and just like that, thousands of people started following along. With their support, I kept rescuing, kept rehoming, and eventually began fostering for Tiny Paws NICU. That experience taught me so much, and helped shape the direction of what would soon become The Biscuit Factory.

We’ve since moved and are turning our new home into another cat haven—slowly but surely. Life has gotten a bit busier (we welcomed our first son in January 2024 and our second in February 2025!), but the mission hasn’t changed. We’re still here for the spicy, scrappy, sick, or scared cats that need a little extra help and a lot of love.

Thanks to the continued support of our amazing community, fosters, and volunteers—and our weekly Toupsday crew—The Biscuit Factory is growing, and we have big plans ahead.

Toup’s Tale

Toup is the scruffy, fluffy, one-eared, half-tailed, snaggletoothed king of The Biscuit Factory—and the heart behind everything we do.

He first showed up around 2016, just a shadow at the edge of the yard. He kept his distance, never letting us get too close, but he never strayed too far either. His ear was already tipped—a sign that he’d been through a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program and was considered okay to live outdoors. Still, something about him told me he belonged somewhere safer.

For years, I tried to earn his trust. Bit by bit, meal by meal, he let down his guard. Eventually, he started venturing inside—but never for long. He’d come in for a nap, then dart right back out. I knew the dangers outdoor cats faced, so I kept trying.

Little by little, Toup began choosing indoor life. He started showing up every night, scratching at the door for dinner and curling up to sleep in safety. On rainy days, he’d screech in protest when I opened the door, offended by the weather, then turn around and flop back down with a huff. It was clear he was learning the comforts of home—and loving them.

During that in-between stage—when he was still trying to slip outside any chance he got—he managed to sneak through the door just as my dad was closing it. The door caught his tail, and that’s how he ended up with only half of it. By then, we already knew he had a few quirks: his ear tip, a toothy little snaggle that hinted at missing teeth, and a slightly battered look that told the story of a life lived rough. But none of it slowed him down.

Today, Toup is a chonky, content, full-time indoor cat. He’s the star of Toupsday, the face of our rescue, and the reason thousands of people have fallen in love with cats who are a little rough around the edges.

Toup is proof that with patience, love, and a safe place to land, even the scrappiest souls can find their home.
